offline:ontheater combines circus, dance and theatre and places its performances in the context of special places and room installations.

The combination of the different techniques opens the possibility to tell stories in an abstract and surreal manner and to combine philosophic research with spectacular moments.

performances

nincs pflokkolás (the premier has been cancelled because the theatre building was destroyed by fire)
Aranymacska (2007)
Hammering Man (2004)
Mensch ohne Knochen gleich Pudding (2002)

nincs pflokkolás
Cirkus-theatre in a world of shadows.
The place is a symbol for time. It stretches in invisible dimensions and gives room for uncountable paths in and out of our existence.
Man tries to control time, material and space. The shadows explore the indefinite paths…

Since hundreds of years inventors try to build a perpetual mobile and to resist the marks of time. Today people experiment with beauty creams and face-lifting surgery.
We build bigger and bigger houses, made to last forever. What for? For us? For our children? – or for the time after?

The piece takes place on the wood structure of an old storage place of the beer brewery “Hagentaler” on Nagytétény út 48-50 in Budafok (Budapest).
The structure reaches a height of more than 3 floors inside the building.

Aranymacska
The short version of Aranymacska shown at Budapest Fringe Fesztivál 2007 has won the Budapest Fringe award from the jury 2007.

Hammering Man
The production “Hammering Man” is inspirated by the moving sculpture “Hammering Man” by Jonathan Borofsky, standing in Basel, Switzerland.

The huge projection of the metal sculpture “Hammering Man” is hammering endlessly, like a black ghost or like God working endlessly on his world. Down on stage the figures are like a microcosmos working endlessly on their world. It is not to know where this work will lead to, how it is motivated and how it affects other levels of existance.

Body and Metal - Is it this unique combination that will produce something entirely new? Or will it lead to total exhaustion?

Hammering Man was performed in the program of "Inspiració" at Trafó in Budapest (H). At that time the name offline:ontheater was not in use, but the theme and the means of expression follow the spirit of offline:ontheater.
